Special Guest - Cinthya Verri

We invite you to come and experience the wonderful work from artist Cinthya Verri.

Brasileira, pero bien chingona is a 90-minute voice and guitar pocket show by Cinthya Verri.

Brazilian Cinthya Verri, 39, is a multitalented singer, songwriter, artist, doctor, playwright, writer and communicator. Whether on stage, studio, media, or at the office her work is marked by contemporaneity. Her creations explore unpublished biases and bring to light unseen aspects of modern and historical culture. Her latest exhibitions were Baby Doll (2017, inspired by Dutch Wives and Japanese Gyaru) and Adelitas (2019, about Mexican women who took up arms during the revolutionary period). Some pieces from these exhibitions will be available at the pocket show venues.

The guiding thread of Brasileira, pero bien chingona are Cinthya's five divorces. With humor and emotion, she talks to the public and sings in Portuguese, English and Spanish the pains and discoveries that accompanies the separations. In the repertoire, Roberto Carlos, Raul Seixas, Lupicínio Rodrigues, Chico Buarque, Alanis Morissette, Amy Winehouse, Ha-ash and her own compositions. The second part of the set list is devoted to songs of Mexican folklore. Cinthya embodies an Adelita and sings, among others, La Llorona, Cucaracha, La Adelita and La Ley del Monte.
